Beware of spilling ink!
Skate is a thief, trained and owned by the local crime syndicate, the Ink. When she tries to burgle a shut-in’s home, she gets caught by the owner—a powerful undead wizard. He makes a deal with her: “borrow” books from other wizards in return for a place to stay.

Caught between her growing fondness for the wizard and her past with the crime syndicate, Skate doesn’t know where her loyalties lie. But she’d better figure it out, because there’s a new player in town, one whose magical hypnotism puts them all at risk.

On the run!
Her mentor is dead, but he doesn’t have to stay that way. He’s left Skate a clue to bringing him back, and she and her friends are determined to follow it.

No sooner do they set out for unknown lands, however, than things get dangerous. Hot on their tail is the wizard Ossertine, furious over Skate’s part in her friend’s death and thirsty for revenge. Worse still are the attacks that come at night: dark, mysterious, and palpably evil.

In this race against time, magic, and implacable foes, Skate must rely on her wits and her friends to save not just her mentor’s life, but also her own.

Updates and Dreams...

First an update, then some comments.

I can be more specific about a timeline for Skate the Seeker, now. Edits and revisions continue, and I believe we can expect a release early in 2023 (not, as I'd hoped, this year, but who's fault is that? That's right, MINE). Expect more details in the coming months; there's still a lot of work left before we can fix a specific date! If you are one of my readers, be sure to tell everyone to get book 1, so they can be ready for book 2 and join you in reading it. If you're not one of my readers... hey! Good to meet you.

Now for some random comments about media. I've finally started reading Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archives series. I blew through Way of Kings and expect to be done with Words of Radiance by the end of next week. 10/10 so far, must-read fantasy. He made a weird  world, and I love every minute spent in it.

Netflix's adaptation of Sandman has been spectacular so far, and so has HBO's House of the Dragon, an adaptation of sections of G.R.R. Martin's Fire and Blood. All excellent reading choices, and I'm glad to see them (successfully!) adapted for the small screen. We're living in the golden age of fantasy nerd television and books, y'all.

Aside from waiting on Skate and watching awesome TV, I've been drafting a side-project to keep myself in the habit of writing. I'm enjoying it so far, and even if it never sees publication, I'll be happy to work on it to completion. The less said of that, the better, I think, until it's done.

That's all for me, for now.

Write your story!
