I’m excited to get started publishing my thoughts online as I try to get published in print. I’ll try to update this once a month with thoughts and reflections on the process, as well as anything I notice about writing in general along the way. As this is an introduction, here’s a little about me: I’m an English teacher in Arkansas with a passion for good stories. I love my family and my town. I’ve written more or less aimlessly over the course of my teenage and adult life, and have only started writing seriously for the last two years or so. In that time, I’ve ghost written fiction pieces on a freelance basis, and have completed a short science fiction novel that unfortunately did not get picked up. I enjoy the writing process, and I love bringing an idea to life through fleshing it out in story. Drafting is the best part for me, but editing is the worst; I’ll get into why both of those are true for me in later posts. Now that you know me a little better, I’m excited to get more of my thoughts out there. Write your story! - J. E. Ayers
